The Turing Test is a measure of a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behavior that is indistinguishable from that of a human. The test involves a human evaluator who engages in natural language conversations with both a machine and a human participant, without knowing which is which. If the evaluator is unable to consistently distinguish the machine’s responses from those of the human, then the machine is said to have passed the Turing Test. The Turing Test was proposed by British mathematician and computer scientist, Alan Turing, in 1950 as a way to evaluate machine intelligence and has since become a widely used benchmark for evaluating the intelligence of AI systems.
